Challenge
As the popularity of Daily Doubloons increased, the platform’s underlying architecture could no longer support its growing community. The system experienced slow performance during peak traffic, and users often encountered glitches when accessing or participating in treasure hunts. Hosts found it difficult to create and manage games, particularly as the demand for both physical and virtual experiences expanded. The user interface felt outdated and lacked the intuitive navigation expected in modern mobile gaming apps. Technical bottlenecks slowed the rollout of new features, and the infrastructure was not equipped to scale efficiently. Without a significant modernization effort, Daily Doubloons risked losing player engagement and falling behind in a competitive market.

Motomtech stepped in as Daily Doubloons’ full Technology Department as a Service, assembling a dedicated team to lead the platform’s transformation. The engagement followed a structured multi-phase process designed to align technology upgrades with user needs and business goals.
Phase 1
Conceptualization
During the Conceptualization phase, Motomtech conducted in-depth interviews with stakeholders, reviewed the legacy infrastructure, and benchmarked comparable apps in the gaming space. This process culminated in a detailed Software Blueprint that laid the foundation for the redesign, including user flows, system architecture, and modernization priorities.
Phase 2
Software Prototype
n the Software Prototype phase, the team crafted a new user experience from the ground up. Wireframes were created to capture the app’s core structure, and those designs were transformed into an interactive prototype. Stakeholders were able to interact with the new UI early, ensuring alignment before development began.
Phase 3
Implementation
The Implementation phase focused on building and deploying a high-performance, mobile-first application. Motomtech developed both mobile and web versions using React Native for cross-platform accessibility and Node.js for backend scalability. A new DevOps pipeline was established to support frequent, reliable releases. The updated platform was relaunched as a fully modernized app, delivering faster performance, better user engagement, and greater reliability across devices.
