Custom .NET development for software that lasts

.NET is a safe choice for software you plan to run for years. It is mature, well supported by Microsoft, and strong where it counts for business systems: web APIs, line-of-business apps, services that have to stay up, and anything that touches the wider Microsoft and Azure stack. Motomtech builds on .NET for clients who want a platform with a long support horizon and a deep talent pool behind it, not the framework of the month.

We work as an extension of your team rather than a vendor you hand a spec to and hope for the best. That means frequent check-ins, straight answers about trade-offs, and working software you can try early instead of a single reveal at the end. Whether you are starting a new build, adding .NET developers to an existing team, or modernizing an older .NET application, the goal stays the same: ship software that holds up under real load, passes your security review, and stays easy to change as the business changes.

.NET development services

We cover the full range of .NET work, from a first build to long-term support.

  • Custom .NET development. We build applications around how your business actually operates, in C# on current .NET, with an architecture that fits the problem instead of a generic template.
  • Team augmentation. We add experienced .NET developers to your in-house team so you can move faster without the lead time of hiring, and keep your own standards and process.
  • QA and testing. We test .NET applications across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels, and wire those tests into CI so problems surface before they reach production.
  • Maintenance and support. Software does not stop needing work at launch. We keep .NET applications current with framework upgrades, security patches, monitoring, and fixes when something breaks.
  • .NET consulting. We give honest technical advice on architecture, framework version choices, migration paths, and where .NET will and won’t pay off for what you are trying to do.

Why build on .NET

.NET is an open-source platform from Microsoft that targets web, mobile, desktop, cloud, and services from a single ecosystem. A few reasons it holds up well for business software:

  • Cross-platform. Modern .NET runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux from one codebase, so you are not locked to Windows servers and you can deploy wherever your infrastructure already lives.
  • Language choice. The runtime supports C#, F#, and Visual Basic. Most teams build in C#, but you can pick the language that fits the work, and the libraries are shared across all of them.
  • Scales with the workload. .NET handles a small internal tool and a high-traffic API on the same stack, so growth rarely forces a rewrite. Performance on modern .NET is genuinely good for server workloads.
  • Strong tooling. Visual Studio, the .NET CLI, and a large set of class libraries cut the time spent on plumbing, which means more of the budget goes toward the features that matter.
  • Security and support. Built-in authentication, encryption, and a regular patch cadence from Microsoft make it a sensible choice for regulated work in finance and healthcare.

What we build with .NET

We focus on the outcome rather than a feature list. These are the kinds of systems we are most often asked to build on .NET.

  • Web applications and APIs. Dynamic, scalable web apps and back-end services built with ASP.NET Core, sized to your traffic and your team.
  • Desktop applications. Windows desktop software where performance, offline use, and tight OS integration matter more than running in a browser.
  • Mobile applications. Cross-platform mobile apps for iOS and Android built with .NET MAUI, the current successor to Xamarin, sharing most of the code across platforms.
  • Microservices. Systems split into independently deployable services, so parts can be updated and scaled on their own instead of shipping the whole thing every time.
  • Machine learning features. Predictive and anomaly-detection features using ML.NET, built into your application where they support a real decision rather than a demo.
  • Internal portals and business apps. Enterprise portals and line-of-business tools that streamline operations and connect the teams that depend on them.
  • CRM, POS, and CMS systems. Custom customer-management, point-of-sale, and content systems built to your process when an off-the-shelf product does not fit.
  • Legacy .NET modernization. Migrating older .NET Framework applications onto current .NET, with a plan that limits disruption and keeps the business running through the move.

How we run a .NET project

We keep the work predictable from the first conversation through long after launch.

  • Discovery and planning. We learn how your organization works, define the scope, and set timelines and clear goals before anyone writes code.
  • Design. We design interfaces your teams can use without training and map the screens and flows to how the work actually gets done.
  • Technical definition. We settle the architecture, the .NET version, and the deployment target so the build starts on solid footing.
  • Development. We build in short, reviewable cycles, with code review and continuous integration so quality holds as the system grows.
  • Testing. We test alongside development, so problems surface early instead of in production.
  • Deployment and maintenance. We ship to production, then stay on for the upgrades, monitoring, and support that keep the system running.

Frequently asked questions

Which .NET frameworks should I build on today?

For new work, build on modern .NET (the current cross-platform line that succeeded .NET Core), using ASP.NET Core for web apps and APIs and .NET MAUI for cross-platform mobile. The older .NET Framework is still supported for existing Windows applications, but it is no longer where new features land, so we only recommend it when you are extending a system already built on it. Xamarin reached end of support in 2024, and .NET MAUI is its replacement, so we steer new mobile projects there.

What kinds of applications can you build with .NET?

A wide range, because .NET targets several platforms from one ecosystem. We build web applications and APIs, Windows desktop software, cross-platform mobile apps, microservices, cloud-hosted services, and machine learning features. The broad class libraries and shared language support mean a lot of code can be reused across those targets, which keeps a multi-platform project from turning into several separate codebases.

What is the difference between .NET Framework and modern .NET?

The .NET Framework is the original, Windows-only platform that has been around since the early 2000s, used for Windows desktop apps and web apps on Windows servers. Modern .NET (the line that grew out of .NET Core) is open-source and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and it is where Microsoft is putting new development. For anything new we use modern .NET. For an existing .NET Framework system we either keep extending it or plan a migration, depending on what makes sense for your roadmap.

How much does a .NET application cost?

It depends on the size of the application, the number of features, how much needs to be custom, and the level of expertise the work calls for. A simple internal app costs far less than a high-traffic system with machine learning or heavy integration. We give a detailed estimate once we understand the scope, and we offer engagement models that fit different budgets. The more useful question is usually return: a system that saves a team hours a week, or removes a class of costly errors, often pays for itself before the build is even done.
