Custom Software Development · Logistics

Custom logistics software, built around how you actually move freight.

For 3PL, fulfillment, and last-mile operators who've outgrown packaged TMS and WMS, and the logistics-tech teams that need a platform built around their own shipping logic, not someone else's template.

The reality

The packaged TMS that got you here can't get you there.

Most logistics operators we talk to are stuck on one of four things, and none of them are solved by another packaged TMS.

The packaged TMS won't bend to how you ship.

Off-the-shelf TMS and WMS are built for the median shipper. If your routing, rate-shopping, or ship-method logic is what makes you competitive, you end up forcing your real workflow into someone else's data model, or paying for a dozen integrations to glue the gaps. The software fights the operation instead of running it.

You can't see the network in real time.

Orders in one system, carrier scans in another, exceptions surfacing in an inbox a day late. When a customer asks where their shipment is, someone goes digging across three tools. Manual reporting eats a full headcount, and you're making routing and capacity calls on yesterday's data.

Your shipping logic lives in one person's head.

The rules that decide carrier, service level, and cost per package are your margin. Right now they're half in a spreadsheet, half in tribal knowledge, and impossible to audit or scale. When that person is out, or when you add a lane or a carrier, the whole thing wobbles.

Billing doesn't tie back to the shipment.

Invoice creation, carrier-cost reconciliation, customer billing, and payment tracking run in separate systems that don't agree with each other. Every disputed charge is a manual hunt. Margin leaks through the cracks between the tools, and nobody can tell you exactly where.

These are solved by software built around how your network runs: your routing, your ship-method logic, your billing reconciliation, your integration map.

What we build

What we build for logistics operators.

Real-time tracking & network visibility

A single source of truth across your fulfillment or delivery network, live shipment status, carrier-scan ingestion, and dashboards your ops team reads on a phone, not a weekly export. This is the ShipNetwork pattern: we replaced manual reporting with automated data workflows and delivered 100% real-time visibility.

Custom shipping & ship-method logic

Your routing, rate-shopping, and service-level rules modeled in software you own, not bolted onto a packaged tool. FirstMile runs proprietary ship-method logic (their Xparcel decisioning) balancing speed, cost, and service per package. We rebuilt the platform that holds it, so the logic that makes them competitive is preserved and extensible.

Back-office, billing & reconciliation

Invoice creation, carrier-cost reconciliation, customer billing, and payment tracking that actually tie back to the shipment. Two-way integration with your accounting and carrier systems, queued with retries and a full sync log, so a disputed charge is a lookup, not an investigation.

Optional

Predictive ETAs & routing assist

Where it earns its keep, an AI-assisted layer for ETA prediction and route or rate recommendation, built with the same production rigor as the rest of the platform. Optional, not the headline. Most operators start with visibility and custom logic first, then add prediction once the data is clean.

How a build goes

How a build actually goes.

01
Week 1

We sit with your operation.

Your ops lead, your billing owner, and whoever holds the shipping logic in their head. We map the real workflow, dock-to-delivery, exceptions, billing, before we write a line of code.

02
Weeks 2 to N

We build, you see it weekly.

A small senior team, your platform taking shape in working increments. You meet the engineers in Week 1 and talk to them every week, not a marketplace, not a rotating cast.

03
Cutover

Ship and hand off, you own it.

Code, architecture, deployment pipeline, and documentation are yours. We can stay on for phase-2 work; the IP is yours from day one.

Typical timing.

Traditional offshore dev shops quote 16 to 24 weeks for an MVP. Our team, running comparable scope with AI-accelerated engineering, compresses that to 8 to 12 weeks, without the offshore-commodity quality tax.

ShipNetwork · real-time fulfillment dashboard

ShipNetwork, eCommerce fulfillment, modernized.

ShipNetwork runs US-based fulfillment centers with 1-day fulfillment and 1–2-day ground delivery guarantees. They'd outgrown an MVP and were running operations on manual reporting. We delivered a full modernization in 4 months: PowerBI dashboards for real-time visibility across the fulfillment network, automated data workflows replacing the manual exports, and a web-and-mobile platform.

FirstMile · Darwin platform

FirstMile, last-mile platform, rebuilt around proprietary logic.

FirstMile is a logistics provider for eCommerce retailers whose proprietary Xparcel technology picks the optimal ship method per package. We rebuilt their Darwin platform, the system holding the Xparcel shipping logic plus invoice creation, billing management, and payment tracking, on a C# backend with a React frontend and a full DevOps pipeline, responsive across web, mobile, and iPad.

Answers to common questions

Frequently asked questions.

Custom logistics software is a platform built around your specific operation, routing, rate-shopping, ship-method logic, tracking, and billing, rather than a packaged TMS or WMS you configure to fit. It's worth building when the configuration work inside a packaged tool costs more than a rebuild, when the logic that makes you competitive can't be modeled in the off-the-shelf product, or when you need integrations the vendor's catalog doesn't have. Below roughly 3PL-mid-market scale on a standard workflow, packaged TMS is usually the right call. Once your workflow is the differentiator, custom wins.

A bounded logistics platform (real-time tracking, custom shipping logic, and billing or accounting integration) typically runs 8 to 12 weeks for a first production release, versus the 16 to 24 weeks an offshore commodity shop would quote for comparable scope. We move faster because our team uses AI-accelerated engineering internally, not because we cut corners on quality. A single focused feature is shorter; a full multi-module platform is longer, and we scope the shape with you in Week 1.

Directly. ShipNetwork (eCommerce fulfillment) and FirstMile (last-mile and parcel) are both production logistics platforms we shipped, both published as case studies on this site. ShipNetwork was a 4-month fulfillment modernization with real-time PowerBI visibility; FirstMile was a full platform rebuild preserving their proprietary Xparcel ship-method logic. The outcomes on both pages are real and client-approved.

Two differences. First, you get a small senior team, not a marketplace of individuals or a 1,000-engineer offshore pool. The engineers on your platform have shipped production software for a decade; you meet them in Week 1 and talk to them weekly. Second, we've shipped this domain, we land the first call already understanding ship-method decisioning, carrier-scan ingestion, and billing reconciliation, because we built it for ShipNetwork and FirstMile. We're a US-contracted team (Salt Lake City plus Tirana, US-business-hours overlap), so accountability sits under US law even though the engineering is distributed.

Yes, integration is core scope, not an afterthought. We build carrier-scan ingestion, accounting and billing sync (queued with retries and a full sync log), and WMS or TMS connections where APIs exist. Where the only path is a brittle web portal rather than a real API, we'll tell you that upfront and scope it separately, because the maintenance cost is real and we won't bury it in a quote.

You do. Code, architecture, deployment pipeline, and documentation are yours, with no per-seat licensing and no vendor lock-in built into the deal. Most operators keep us on for phase-2 work, but the IP is yours from day one.
